Additional Services

Precision grinding, metal treatment and gear cutting services delivered as part of one complete engineering support package.

Turnell & Odell provide a range of additional precision-engineering services that complement our CNC milling, CNC turning and welding capabilities. By bringing grinding, metal treatment and gear cutting together on one dedicated page, customers can access the specialist processes needed to take components from machined part through to finished, production-ready item.

These services support prototype work, one-off replacement components and ongoing production requirements, with quality, dimensional accuracy and reliable communication at the centre of every project.

Grinding, Metal Treatment & Gear Cutting

Our additional services help customers achieve tighter tolerances, improved surface condition, enhanced material performance and accurate power-transmission features without needing to manage multiple separate suppliers.

Precision Grinding

Precision surface and cylindrical grinding for components requiring exceptional flatness, roundness, dimensional control and fine surface finishes.

Metal Treatment & Finishing

Managed treatment and finishing processes designed to improve hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, surface quality and long-term component performance.

Gear Cutting

Precision gear cutting for accurate tooth profiles, controlled pitch, concentricity and reliable power transmission across prototype and production requirements.

Precision Grinding

Turnell & Odell provide specialist precision grinding and surface finishing services for customers who require ultra-accurate, smooth and dimensionally stable components. Using advanced grinding equipment and skilled finishing techniques, we achieve exceptional flatness, roundness and surface quality across a wide range of materials.

Surface and cylindrical grinding are essential where machining alone cannot deliver the final dimensional accuracy or surface finish required. Typical applications include tooling plates, gauges, bearing journals, shafts, seal faces and other precision-critical components.

Surface Grinding

Ideal for components requiring ultra-flat surfaces, parallel faces and tight dimensional control. Surface grinding produces refined finishes for tooling, gauges, plates and alignment-critical components.

Cylindrical Grinding

Used for shafts, journals and round components where accurate diameters, concentricity and smooth surface finish are critical to assembly and operating performance.

Grinding for Prototypes & Production

Our grinding services can support one-off development parts as well as repeat production. Dimensional inspection and controlled processing help ensure each component meets the required flatness, roundness, size and surface-finish specification.

Metal Treatment & Finishing

Turnell & Odell coordinate and manage a range of metal treatment and finishing processes to improve material performance, protect surfaces and help components meet demanding engineering requirements.

Depending on the component specification, treatment can be used to increase hardness, improve wear resistance, reduce corrosion risk, enhance appearance or prepare a surface for its final operating environment.

Heat Treatment & Hardening

Processes such as hardening, tempering and stress relief can improve strength, stability and wear resistance where required by the material and component specification.

Surface Coating & Finishing

Finishing routes can include polishing, deburring, coating preparation and other controlled processes that improve corrosion resistance, appearance and overall component longevity.

Coordinated Treatment Support

Where a component requires multiple treatment stages, we can coordinate the process as part of the wider manufacturing project. This helps customers simplify their supply chain while maintaining traceability, inspection and control over the finished component.

Gear Cutting

Our gear cutting services are focused on producing accurate tooth forms, controlled pitch and consistent rotational geometry for components that need smooth, dependable power transmission.

Whether the requirement is for a prototype, replacement component or repeat production, careful machining and inspection help ensure gears engage correctly, operate smoothly and perform reliably in demanding mechanical systems.

Spur & Helical Gears

Precision cutting supports accurate pitch, profile and concentricity for applications requiring smooth engagement, consistent torque transmission and dependable long-term performance.

Internal, External & Spline Cutting

Suitable for shafts, assemblies and mechanical drive systems requiring accurate internal forms, external profiles and precision splines for correct component engagement.

Quality-Controlled Gear Production

Gear quality directly affects drivetrain performance. In-process inspection and final verification can be used to check critical characteristics such as tooth profile, pitch, runout, concentricity and surface finish against the required specification.

One Engineering Partner for the Complete Component

Combining these additional services with our CNC machining and fabrication capability gives customers a more complete engineering solution. Rather than managing separate suppliers for machining, grinding, treatment and gear features, Turnell & Odell can support the component through multiple stages of manufacture while maintaining clear communication and quality control.
