Welding Services

MIG welding is one of the most common types of welding. This is a type of arc welding that uses a continuous wire feed called an electrode. It uses a shielding gas that travels through the welding gun and protects the weld against contamination.

TIG welding also uses electric arc but with TIG you use an electrode made of tungsten and then use a separate filler wire in the form of a rod to weld by a process known as fusion. Tungsten is one of the toughest metal materials and does not dissolve or burn off. TIG also uses an external gas supply as a shield such as argon or helium.

For this type of welding, you use a shielded metal welding rod – this is more commonly known as Stick welding. The electrode, or stick, is consumable and when a high current is passed through it forms an arc between the covered metal electrode and the base metal workpiece. As the stick melts, its protective cover also melts and shields the weld area from oxygen and other gases that may be in the air. This forms a slag deposit over the weld than needs removing – generally by hand.
